Dakar, Senegal – May 2024

Senegal is eager to transform its economy towards greater sustainability, focusing on green growth and renewable energy initiatives. This commitment underscores the nation’s dedication to a resilient and environmentally friendly future, as outline by the green transition plan.

For this purpose, Climate & Company successfully concluded a series of four workshops in Senegal focused on the classification of economic activities as sustainable, known as taxonomy development. These workshops were attended by key stakeholders from government agencies and private sector representatives and were supported via GIZ, the German Cooperation Agency. The series aimed to provide participants with the knowledge and tools necessary to classify economic activities in a way that aligns with global sustainability standards. This initiative is part of Climate & Company’s broader mission to promote sustainable economic practices and support countries in their efforts to meet international environmental goals.

“We are thrilled with the engagement and enthusiasm shown by all participants,” says Dr. Oliver Herrmann, Partner at Climate & Company.
