Sustainable Finance and value chains in the extended Euro-Mediterranean Region

April 1, 2024 - Redirecting post-pandemic investments towards sustainable finance presents an opportunity to create new, secure, and environmentally friendly job opportunities in the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) region. It is important to note that UfM Member States are among the most affected by climate change, yet they lack the necessary climate finance to mitigate and adapt to its impact. This funding gap is particularly pronounced in the Southern and Eastern Mediterranean States. In comparison to other parts of the world, these regions receive disproportionately low levels of public and private climate finance.

Solutions for Mobilising Financial Sources and Enhancing the Financial Framework for Investments on Deforestation-Free Value Chains

February 19, 2024 - GIZ SAFE, the first official EUDR-response programme from the EU Commission and EU Member States, jointly financed by DG INTPA and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), and Climate & Company join forces in several workstreams relating to deforestation-free supply chains and the successful implementation of the EUDR. Through this partnership, we aim to identify and foster solutions to mobilise financial sources, especially for vulnerable groups, and enhance gender-transformative financial frameworks for investments in deforestation-free supply chains.

Development of a Green Finance Taxonomy in Senegal

September 15, 2023 - Together with the German Development Cooperation (GIZ), the Senegalese Ministry of Environment, Sustainable Development and Ecological Transition (MEDDTE) and the Senegalese Ministry of Finance and Budget (MFB), Climate & Company and its Senegalese partner organisation, the Consortium pour la Recherche Economique et Sociale (CRES), are currently developing Africa’s third green finance taxonomy, which will also be the first taxonomy in the French language.

CONFESS – Clean Energy Verification and Validation for SMEs

November 23, 2022 - Small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) often face challenges with the administrative burden and complexity of understanding the EU taxonomy. They frequently receive information requests from clients and banks about how their products or activities align with the taxonomy. This can be overwhelming and time-consuming. The CONFESS project aims to solve this problem by creating an easy-to-use data tool.

Climate and Development Partnership between Peru and Germany

November 7, 2022 - The main objectives of this assignment, funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), coordinated by the German Development Cooperation (GIZ) and carried out by Climate & Company, were to: Analyse the contributions of Germany’s technical and financial development cooperation in the area of climate change in Peru; Identify areas where to improve the impacts of mitigation and adaptation measures through creating new actions, and, where appropriate, to increase the ambition levels of existing measures; and develop recommendations for the future design of the technical and financial development cooperation between Germany and Peru.
