Making Deforestation Due Diligence Work in Practice

July 2, 2024 - Various open-source providers make extensive data on companies' actions on deforestation available. Yet, financial institutions report that it remains challenging and resource-intensive for them to identify and mitigate deforestation risks in investment portfolios. The new practical guide responds to this challenge, as the financial sector is increasingly committed to addressing its role in deforestation, a major driver of biodiversity loss and climate change. It is ready for implementation as the guidelines are complemented by an online code repository with a (limited) open-source dataset that financial institutions can use and adapt.

Climate & Company present the EUDR to the Agri-Food Systems Sector Chamber of CEBDS

June 27, 2024 - Climate & Company presented the EU Deforestation Regulation, detailing its main objectives, scope, requirements, and timeline, as well as the key challenges and opportunities for Brazil. The progress Brazil has made in terms of compliance tools was also highlighted. Some EU programmes that aim to support producing countries in complying with the regulation, such as the GIZ SAFE project, where Climate & Company has been working on greening finance, were also presented.

“Sustainable Business in Baden-Württemberg” on 24 June!

June 12, 2024 - Climate & Company has launched an innovative project aimed at alleviating the administrative burden for SMEs. From February to May 2024, Climate & Company hosted a series of workshops in the Stuttgart area, in collaboration with the Baden-Württemberg Ministry of Economic Affairs, Labour and Tourism. This initiative is designed to thoroughly acquaint 5-10 SMEs with the draft voluntary SME standard proposed by the European Financial Reporting Advisory Group (EFRAG).

Workshop on Sustainable Debt Instruments under the Sino-German Cooperation on Climate Change

June 12, 2024 - Experts from China and Germany gathered in Beijing for the first workshop of the Sino-German Expert Dialogue Series on Sustainable Finance Products and Practices, hosted by Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit GmbH (GIZ) China and supported by IFS and Climate & Company. The presentations and discussions focused on green and sustainable debt instruments and their central role in the sustainable finance agenda.
