The energy transition value chain

Regulations relevant for the climate and energy transition need to contribute to equitable outcomes globally, and should not exacerbate existing disparities within and between countries. If we show –quickly- how to make these critical value chains work for businesses, SMEs, and workers “upstream and downstream”, these policies and regulations offer a massive opportunity to reach our climate targets by setting the guard rails for climate friendly business-to-business cooperation, along key climate-critical value chains.

In this session, we will deep dive into the energy transition value chain together to co-create a clear roadmap on the next steps in 2024 and 2025. Key decision-makers from the public and private sectors, philanthropy, civil society, experts and affected stakeholders around the world; so many of us work really hard all year round in our areas of expertise towards making this a reality. Let us take advantage of the unique opportunity of Climate Week NYC with these stakeholders present to unlock the missing pieces that we still need to cooperate on.

Format
An in-person roundtable with a duration of 2 hours; see the Agenda below. The first hour will focus on setting the scene and sharing experiences and views about the current state, gaps, challenges and opportunities in the context of sustainability disclosure standards’ international alignment. The second hour will focus on the way forward, jointly carving out concrete action points and solutions to increase the effectiveness of sustainability disclosures through enhanced international alignment of ambitious disclosure standards.

The key insights will be captured and shared afterwards (Chatham House Rules)
