EU-Brazil Partnership to Accelerate the Implementation of the EU Regulation on Deforestation-Free Products
in collaboration with Amigos da Terra-Amazonia Brasileira and implemented by Sequa
October 1, 2024
What we do?
Enhancing Traceability in the leather and beef Supply Chain
We will engage with national and international stakeholders to identify information gaps and develop solutions for the Brazilian cattle supply chain in the Brazilian Amazon. This effort will provide relevant insights to be incorporated into a practical technical guide.
Why do we do it?
Promoting Legal and Sustainable Trade
The project aims to bridge the gap in traceability in the Brazilian leather and beef supply chain to ensure compliance with the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). By promoting responsible production and trade practices, we aim to contribute to the global effort against deforestation and support the sustainable development of the agri-food sector.
How do we do it?
Supporting Traceability and Compliance in Beef Supply
Climate & Company’s Role:
- Practical Guide: Climate & Company will compile information gathered from stakeholder interviews into a step-by-step practical guide. This guide will assist different actors that are part of the beef supply chain, to meet EUDR requirements, in particular related to traceability.
- Stakeholder Engagement: We will conduct interviews with relevant stakeholders to identify information gaps and integrate this knowledge into the practical guide.
- Feasibility Study: Climate & Company will also conduct a comprehensive commercial feasibility study for the pilot project for individual cattle traceability developed by the Amigos da Terra- Amazonia Brasileira.
The initial stakeholder engagements will set the stage for ongoing collaboration and knowledge-sharing, paving the way for sustainable practices and compliance with international regulations.
