Prof. Dr. Luan Santos

Luan Santos is our External Advisor supporting us on climate finance and carbon markets, and he is Professor of Industrial Engineering and Business Administration at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro (UFRJ), Brazil. He received his Ph.D. in Energy and Environmental Planning from UFRJ and was a postdoctoral researcher at the Wegener Center für Klima und Globalen Wandel (Karl-Franzens-Universität Graz), Austria.

In addition to his very important work at Climate & Company, he coordinates the Sustainable Finance and Investments group (gFIS/UFRJ), leads the “Climate and Carbon Pricing” area of the Brazilian Alliance for Sustainable Finance and Investment (BRASFI), and is also a member of the Green Finance WG of the Financial Innovation Lab (LAB). He has previously worked for institutions such as the United Nations, the Brazilian Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD-Brazil), and the Development Bank of Latin America and the Caribbean (CAF), and as a consultant for various Brazilian ministries, such as the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of the Environment and the Ministry of Mines and Energy, as well as for private companies operating in Brazil and LAC.

He has published his work in international academic journals such as Climate Policy, Journal of Climate Finance, Energy Policy, Energy Conversion and Management, Sustainability, Environments, among others.
