From Inspiring Ideas to Transformative Actions: Bringing About Transformative Change to Support the Implementation of the KMGBF

Climate & Company will showcase the transformative actions undertaken through the project “G20: Sustainable Finance for Nature and People” to support the implementation of Target 15 of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework (KMGBF). Launched in December 2023, this project aims to raise awareness on the important role played by the G20 forum in supporting its member countries to advance on the implementation of the KMGBF – Target 15, as well as provide concrete recommendations to support achieving this goal. As the Post-2020 Biodiversity Framework – EU Support Project, implemented by Expertise France, comes to an end, a special side event will be hosted at COP16 to celebrate the achievements of the past few years Launched in December 2023 and coordinated by Climate & Company, the G20: Sustainable Finance for Nature and People project has been developed in the context of the Post 2020 Biodiversity framework. The project aims to raise awareness of the important role played by the G20 forum in supporting its member countries to advance on the implementation of the KMGBF – Target 15 and provides concrete recommendations to achieve this goal.
During this side event, Climate & Company will share key results, impacts, and benefits achieved so far. Two policy briefs were published through the T20 – Think Tank Engagement Group, offering recommendations to the G20:
Additionally, two events have been organized, bringing together stakeholders from the public and private sectors, as well as civil society, to discuss how the G20 can effectively support and uphold the targets of the GBF, especially Target 15,and how to make taxonomies work in the G20 to achieve the Biodiversity Plan.
