Our Input to EU consultation on the functioning of the ESG ratings market

In this brief, we provide insightful comments to the EU Commission’s open consultation on the functioning of the ESG ratings market and on the consideration of ESG factors in credit ratings. The recommendations we developed include the adoption of a mandatory framework for disclosure of key assumptions, most sensitive methodology features and objectives of ESG ratings. This way, the concerns raised so far on the levels of transparency on methodologies and data sources, and on the timeliness, accuracy and reliability of ESG ratings can be addressed.
