Dr. Sven Remer
Sven joined Climate & Company as a Senior Analyst in June 2023, having previously already cooperated with some team members on a couple of joint projects.
A self-diagnosed “border-liner” at the intersection of academia and practice, Sven brings considerable experience in the fields of sustainability and finance to the team.
Motivated by his early wish to contribute to nature protection, he first obtained a Master in Biology with a major in ecology from the University of Munich. Later, better comprehending the important role the financial sector plays in sustainable development, he continued his studies with an MBA in General and Strategic Management and a PhD in Finance, both from Bayes Business School, London.
Professionally, Sven gained experience as an environmental management consultant and auditor, as a researcher in ecology, population genetics, entrepreneurship, venture capital and microfinance, as a manager of an association of European “Green Banks”, as a junior professor in Social Banking and Social Finance, as a leader of several large publicly sponsored research projects in the context of Sustainable Finance, as a board member of Germanys oldest association for Sustainability in the Financial Sector, and as a strategy consultant with a focus on Sustainable Finance in regional banks.
Interested in all aspects of Sustainable Finance, Sven’s particular passion revolves around the question of how the financial sector can contribute to restoring and protecting biodiversity.
His love for nature also explains his favorite past times – cycling and hiking, preferably in his Bavarian home region.
