Our Impact at a Glance
Policy and market rules
The EU Deforestation-free Products Regulation (EUDR), which we helped to get adopted, is expected to avoid at least
32 million tonnes CO₂ annually and biodiversity loss by decoupling EU consumption from deforestation and degradation.
More than 1,000 large companies are now required to conduct due diligence under the Corporate Sustainability Due Diligence Directive (CSDDD), which we supported throughout its development.
Over 5,000 large companies are now required to report on their sustainability risks and impacts under the EU Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), with far-reaching effects across their value chains. We supported its adoption through engagement with EU and national policymakers and as members of EFRAG Sustainability Reporting Technical Expert Groups.
Corporate and investor practice
155 deforestation-risk companies have been put on a focus list by Swedish pension fund AP2 using the deforestation-risk methodology we co-developed. AP2 has prioritised 21 companies for engagement.
More than 80 companies and SMEs have improved their readiness for supply chain due diligence and sustainability reporting through our workshops, pilots and advisory support.
National traceability initiatives for EUDR-relevant commodities have gained traction in response to the Regulation. We co-developed pilots and guidance together with our partners in Brazil.
Data tools and capacity building
85 financial solutions for smallholders across 6 countries and 7 commodities are mapped in the smallholder finance database we built to support EUDR implementation.
Over 20 countries have been supported with sustainable finance policy development and implementation through our analytical input, advice and training.
More than 5,000 people have been trained in over 100 workshops worldwide on sustainability reporting, due diligence, deforestation-free supply chains, nature- and transition finance.
Global biodiversity risk assessment for companies and financial institutions is enabled through WWF Biodiversity Risk Filter, for which we developed the financial sector guidance jointly with WWF.
