May 16, 2024
The Union for the Mediterranean (UfM) Secretariat, with the support of the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH and Climate and Company, held a 2-day workshop on Sustainable Investment in Madrid from 12 – 14 May focusing on Green Taxonomies and ESG Disclosure Regulations, and the possibilities for the Mediterranean region via joint action and cooperation (to address regional socioenvironmental challenges and economic development). Participants included representatives from national governments, the private sector, consultants, financial institutions and civil society representatives. You can find the outcome document giving a detailed summary here.
We would like to thank all parties involved for making it as enjoyable as it was useful. The engagement, interest and enthusiasm for the topics discussed was always very high! We would also like to give a special shout-out to Abdelkader El Khissassi, Deputy Secretary General in charge of Economic Development and Employment at the UfM, Said Charna, Senior Advisor at the UfM, and Alicia Figueroa from GIZ for trusting Climate & Company with the conceptual development and moderation of the workshop.
We would also like to thank the Chair of the EU Platform on Sustainable Finance Helena Viñes Fiestas for delivering her keynote speech, and to Ingmar Juergens, David Rusnok, Elizabeth Tamayo Tabares, Dr. Theresa Spandel, Daniel Scharwies, and Fritz Trienekens for representing Climate & Company throughout the workshop.
We now look forward to our next event on the 9th and 10th of July in Cairo to discuss EU Regulations for Sustainable Supply Chains.
